Sustainability
Sustainability has always been a priority for West Coast Exports, and we believe it to be one
of our pillars of progress. At all times WCE has made it a point to address every key
touchpoint in the life cycle of our product. This includes the source of the fabric, the manner
in which it has been produced and the way in which it would be at one with the environment
once it reaches the end of its life span. For our tireless efforts towards sustainability and
accountability we were awarded the QEC certification ISO 9001:2008.
We take great care towards the physical and mental well-being of our 2000 karigars in
Mumbai, who dedicatedly give us designs that make us stand proudly on the world stage. All
our workers work on a shift basis which reduces the burden of extra hours. Our factories are
centrally air conditioned, making a comfortable environment for them to work in. Also, utmost
care is taken towards safety and hygiene following the new WHO protocols in lieu of the
ongoing pandemic. We also made it a point to get all our workers vaccinated, for the safety
of their health.
West Coast Exports is also a member of Sedex - One of the world’s leading ethical trade
membership organisation. Through our affiliation to Sedex we actively look into ethical trade
practices, these include but are not limited to, Child Labour, Forced and Compulsory Labour,
Health and Safety, Freedom of Association, Discrimination, Disciplinary Practices, Working
Hours, Remuneration and Management System, Control of the Supply Chain, Management
of External Communications.
